I'm working on getting at some more recipes together for this blog, so I hope you'll check back often for new additions!

Some foods nourish the body, and some simply nourish the soul. Most of my recipes will be "healthy" recipes that are designed to nourish your body. Some of them, however, are not so healthy for your body, but are more for the "nourishment of the soul." These are the recipes that are included in my Family Heirloom Recipes. All things in moderation!


DRESSINGS AND SAUCES

RANCH DRESSING

3/4 cup mayonnaise, full fat (I recommend Hellman's)
1/2 cup light sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped, fresh parsley
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon lemon juice
salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a blender; puree until smooth.  (This is a South Beach Diet phase 1 recipe)

SOUTH BEACH FRIENDLY BARBECUE SAUCE

1 8-oz can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients and whisk thoroughly.  Store, refrigerated, in an airtight plastic container.  (This is a South Beach Diet phase 1 recipe)
